Synopsis

The Final Year Project is the main piece of work that students are required to undertake during their final year at University.

As I am studying Digital Visual Effects at Teesside University, my Final Year Project idea is a short sequence that might represent a scene from a feature film or television program, which demonstrates extensive use of digital effects. It is entitled "The Watch"

The premise for my idea is as follows...

It is present day. A young boy is walking down a street with rows of terraced houses. He is kicking stones along the floor and walks with little purpose or direction.

As he walks along he comes across an old fashioned pocket watch laying on the pavement. He picks up the watch and, as he is looking at it, the hands of the watch begin winding backwards; slowly at first but increasing in speed.

The boy looks up from the watch to notice that the street he is standing on is transforming, as if by magic, into the very same street during World War Two.

The buildings that were previously houses now appear to have been bombed as smoke and fire rises from the crumbled structures.

The boy looks up to see a mass of World War 2 bomber aircraft flying high overhead and a number of Spitfire fighter planes flying much lower.

The sequence ends with the boy walking cautiously away down the now fully transformed WWII street.
